Prof Dr Balkan Naci Islimyeli
20 September 1947 Born in Adapazari.
1967 Enters the painting department of the State School of Applied and Fine Arts.
1972 Graduates from the same school at the head of his class.
1973 Is accepted as a graduate assistant at the school.
1975 Studies lithography in Salzburg on an Austrian government scholarship.
1977 Submits his thesis “Structure as an element of expression in the visual arts”.
1980-82 Does work in the painting department of the Florence Academy of Fine Arts under an Italian government scholarship.
1983 Receives his doctorate.
1986 Becomes an associate professor at the academy.
1989 Does work on the subject of contemporary art in New York.
1990 Does work at New York University upon the invitation of that institution’s Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies.
1991 Wins a Fulbright scholarship and continues his work at the NYU School of Fine Arts.
1995 Does work at Hartford Trinity College as a guest artist in the United States upon the invitation of that school.
1996 Becomes a full professor.
He is the head of the Balkan Naci Islimyeli workshop at Marmara University. He has taught classes on the subjects of “Art and Design”, “Communication and Contemporary Art”, “Methods of Visual Resolution”, “Experimental Art Workshop”, and “Visual Semiotics” at the Communications Faculty of Maltepe University. He is the head of the painting studio at Bilgi University.
