cda@play

cda@play, an exhibition of young artists’ interpretations of the concept of “play” will be on view between 09 – 30 January, 2010 at CDA Projects in Istanbul.

cda@play   explores the subject ’play‘ as an activity of free will. As the famous artist Louise Bourgeois said, “The artist remains a child who is no longer innocent,  yet cannot liberate himself from his subconscious. The expression of his terror is self-involved and pleasurable.”  cda@play will question the adult perception of the artist, in other words, the perception of the child who cannot liberate himself from his subconscious, and his reactions to the responsabilities and rules of adult life, then will leave them aside in order to explore the nostalgia towards the courage and clear perception of childhood.
Participating artists include Alper Demir, Çagdas Erçelik, Ibrahim Koç, Firat Neziroglu, Gönül Nuhoglu, Rajesh Ram, Seydi Murat Koc  and Ardan Özmenoglu and their personal reflections on the notion of game. Through the exhibition, the rituals and themes of quotidian life that we are supposed to take seriously come back at us in the form of games, toys and eventually as a joke.
