DAGHAN CELAYIR

Daghan Celayir, graduated from Lycee de Galatasaray, finished his studies in visual arts and his master degree on film production in Istanbul. His short films “Rebellion of the Machines” and “The Man who Never Leaves the Island” received many awards and screenings in national and international short film competitions. He was selected among 200 artists worldwide to receive the UNESCO artist in residency prize. He then participated in the artist residency program in Australia, Bundanon. In 2008, he finished the production of his short film “The One Note Man” which was in competition in 53.Valladolid, Barcelona, Paris and screened in Cannes and Rotterdam International Film Festival. With 18 prizes in 65 international competition appearances, including Valladolid, Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo, Cannes and Rotterdam International Film Festivals, and theatrical and TV distributions in France, Japan Belgium and US, he became an internationally acclaimed short film director.  His artworks consist of diverse content and various visual techniques, which generally focus on spatial concepts. Along with his new short project, to be shot this winter, he is currently developing his first feature film.
