Upcoming artist Ferhat Deniz’s first personal exhibition titled “Memories, Dreams, Nightmares” meets the spectators at CDA Projects between 5th and 27th of February, 2010.
At this exhibition the subject depicted on Ferhat Deniz’s big scale canvases are the memories, dreams and nightmares painted on empty canvases that the artist sees as a reflection of people’s lives. The artist, taking himself as a reference point, puts on canvas the limitations of man’s life and how these limitations can take form in the journey that is taken within our memories.
In Ferhat Deniz’s exhibition catalogue, Funda Çakir refers to the upcoming artist’s works as follows:
‘...The Artist doesn’t start his work by taking an empty canvas ready to be painted on. He either builds his canvas himself or repaints used canvases. On the intentional defects of his works he adds arms, legs and a face, consisting of various materials, as well as, deep lines, stitches, brushstrokes and jagged textures. In order to feel the tension and the decomposition, the artist primes on the memories.’
